Q&A

How do I decide which option is best for me?

Many ALLTEL E-Rate customers use the Bill Discount method of requesting their E-Rate discounts. The Bill Discount method allows you to obtain your discounts monthly. To assist the applicant in managing E-Rate funds, ALLTEL tracks your discount percentage, E-Rate funds disbursed and remaining funds available.

Will I get an E-Rate Bill Credit on the ALLTEL bill?

If you select the Bill Discount method, you will see a monthly credit on your ALLTEL bill. No discounts are applied to your bill if you select reimbursement via the BEAR process.

Do I need to contact ALLTEL before I submit my FCC Form 486?

No. The FCC Form 486 only functions to indicate that services have been or will be received. It no longer requires you to indicate the method used by the Service Provider to disburse E-Rate discounts. ALLTEL will receive a copy of your FCC Form 486 Notification Letter from the SLD.

How long does it take to receive an E-Rate reimbursement check from ALLTEL?

If you choose the BEAR Process, it will take 45 to 60 days from the time you receive your BEAR Approval Letter from the SLD, to receive your reimbursement check.

What will happen if I used the BEAR Process and then decide I want to use the Discount process?

If you decide to change your reimbursement process during the funding year, you must first refund all discounts issued to date. Please refer to www.USAC.org, SLD website for additional information on changing reimbursement methods.

If I have multiple FRNs, can I choose different reimbursement request options per each FRN?

Yes, you may choose different reimbursement request options (Bill Discount or BEAR) per each FRN.
